The economic and financial crisis of recent years has brought to the fore the gap between the South and the rest of Italy. After a modest downward trend in the spread between the two parts of the country, since 1995, the dualism is expanded. This paper aims to recover the reasons of the “industrial logic” that inspired the extraordinary intervention policies for the South in the Fifties of the Twentieth century in order to rethink the “Southern Question” as part of a systematic project for the development and growth of the entire national system.
